Working principles
Channels are formed between the plates and the corner ports are arranged so that the two media flow through alternate channels. The heat is transferred through the plate between the channels, and complete counter-current flow is created for highest possible efficiency. The corrugation of the plates provides the passage between the plates, supports each plate against the adjacent one and enhances the turbulence, resulting in efficient heat transfer.

The embossed pattern of the special heat transfer plates promotes high turbulence at low fluid velocities. The high turbulence results in very high heat transfer coefficients.
Compact Size
Our PHE heat exchanger can be anywhere from 50% to 80% smaller than other types of heat exchangers. It requires less floor space due to the high thermal efficiency of the stainless steel. The plates are brazed together at high temperatures, allowing the heat exchanger to be compact, leak tight, and rugged.
Close Approach Temperatures
Close-approach temperatures of 1-2°F (0.5-1.0°C) are possible because of true counter flow and high heat transfer efficiency of the plates. This is an important factor in regeneration and heat recovery processes.

Material of plates and the application
304 stainless steel | This is the lowest cost heat transfer plate material. It has a low corrosion resistance and is usually only available in a thickness of 0.4mm. This type of heat transfer plate is typically used on HVAC applications. |
316 stainless steel | This is the most common heat transfer plate material and is used in many applications. 316 stainless steel has a high corrosion resistance and is typically available in thickness from 0.4mm up to 0.8mm. |
Titanium | This has a very high resistance to chemical attack including most acids, chlorides,sea water,and chlorine chemicals. Titanium is usually available in thicknesses from 0.5mm up to 0.6mm. |
